Meet Dr. Joe Moon
Dr. Joe Moon was born and raised in Kansas by his parents who migrated from Korea in 1976 in search of the American Dream. Hard work and determination allowed them to achieve that dream, which gave Dr. Moon the opportunity to pursue his own dreams. He graduated as the valedictorian of his high school class and after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas, he changed direction and pursued a career in dentistry. He obtained an Ivy League dental education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he finished at the top of his class and served as president of the class his entire four years of attendance.
One of his greatest achievements while in dental school was meeting his future wife, Beverly, who happened to be a classmate of his. After dental school, Dr. Moon and his wife both completed general practice residencies in New York City before relocating to Dallas, TX to practice dentistry. Dr. Moon gained invaluable experience as a dentist but decided to continue his education. He relocated to Minneapolis, MN where he received his orthodontic specialty training and a master’s degree at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Moon was highly trained in state-of-the-art technology, including robotic-assisted orthodontic therapy (SureSmile) and digital modeling via Itero scanning, and his research on the technological advances in digital modeling has been published in several journals.
After completing his training, Dr. Moon moved his family back home to Kansas and has been practicing orthodontics in the Kansas City metro area for the last several years. His wife, Dr. Beverly Moon, practices general dentistry in Lenexa, KS. Dr. Moon is very involved in the community both personally and professionally including serving as the President of the Kansas Association of Orthodontists in 2016. Dr. Moon, his wife and their three daughters, Isabel, Sophia and Grace, have firmly planted their roots in Overland Park and look forward to growing with all of you over the years.
